【摘要】:1.1Itiscommonpracticefororthopaedicimplantmanufacturerstoapplypermanentidentificationtoimplantcomponents.Inthisregard,PracticeF86describesrecommendedlocationsandmethodsofmarkingformetallicimplants.1.2Thepurposeofthispracticeisto(1)recommendthatorthopaedicimplantsbepermanentlymarked,and(2)recommendpracticalamountsofinformationthatshouldbeincludedinthemarking.Itisrecognized,however,thatmarkingisnotpracticalinsomecases(see4.1).1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
